2009 Conference - Enhancing the Guide Dog Experience - Annual General Meeting

The 2009 annual general meeting of Guide Dog Users of Canada will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2009, as part of the tenth anniversary conference. The AGM is an opportunity for members to learn more about what the organization is doing, and to set the future direction of the organization through dialogue, resolutions, and the election of guide dog users to the Board of Directors.

More information on the AGM, including nomination and voting eligibility criteria and procedures, will be distributed to members shortly.

In the interim, we encourage everyone to begin considering possible nominees for the 2009-2010 Guide Dog Users of Canada board of directors. In addition, if there are any resolutions (including by-law amendments) that you would like to propose to the membership, it is not too early to begin working on the drafting of these.

This year, the following positions on the board will be up for election.

  • Vice-President (two year term, presently Anthony Tibbs)
  • Treasurer (one year term, presently vacant, with Helen McFadyen assuming the role of interim treasurer)
  • Secretary (two year term, presently Diana Czainski)
  • West Coast Regional Director (two year term, BC or Yukon member)
  • Prairie Regional Director (one year term, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, or Northwest Territories’ member)
  • Central Canada Regional Director (two year term, Ontario, Quebec, or Nunavut member)
  • Atlantic Regional Director (one year term, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador, or Prince Edward Island member)
  • Director at Large (one year term)

Those elected to the positions of Vice-President, Secretary, West Coast director and Central Canada director will serve for a two-year term, ending in 2011. Those elected to the positions of Treasurer, Prairie director, Atlantic director, or Director at Large will serve for a one-year term, ending in 2010.
