Guide dog teams included in new animal protection legislation

Government of Saskatchewen passes into law the Animal Protection Act, 2010. The Act was first introduced on November 8, 2010, and replaces The Animal Protection Act, 1999.

The Bill also includes protection for service animals, such as guide dogs used by people with disabilities. Any person who interferes with or causes harm to a service animal may now be subject to the increased penalties if convicted. These penalties can be as much as $25,000. December 8, 2010
